Meet the chiropractor

Toni Pastotnik, DC

I was introduced to chiropractic twice, once due to my vertigo as a young adult in college and the second time due to my lower back pain in my late 20s. I grew up here in the Western Upper Peninsula, moved away to attend Michigan State University, and worked an office job until 2017 when I left for Palmer College of Chiropractic. I graduated in 2021 and began treating patients in Indiana until I moved back with my husband in 2022. I know every patient is different, so I will work with you to achieve your health and wellness goals.

I look forward to offering patient-centered care here in the Western UP. I use a combination of manual and instrument-adjusting techniques.

What to expect

Is chiropractic right for you?

Chiropractic care can help most patients with acute or chronic pain caused by musculoskeletal issues. Chiropractic care can be helpful at any age and stage of life. To determine if chiropractic care is right for you, an exam will be necessary.

What to expect during the exam.

We will discuss your history and perform tests to see if I can help. If, after the exam, we determine that chiropractic care may be the right fit, we will discuss the plan for you. Whether acute, chronic, or wellness-focused care begins with a comprehensive examination and a thorough review of the findings.

What to expect during the adjustment.

During the adjustment, I will talk with you about what is about to happen so that there will be no surprises. We will discuss what you are comfortable with.  Some people will experience a “cracking” noise called cavitation, and others will not. Not every adjustment produces a cavitation. Just because it does not cavitate does not mean it was not an effective adjustment. The cavitation is the release of gases in the joint capsule, not your bones cracking.

After the adjustment.

Depending on your condition, you may receive at-home care instructions. Those instructions may include exercises, rest, heat, and/or ice. It all depends on each patient and issue. We will discuss this at your appointment.
